How to hairline finish stainless steel?

The hairline treatment (also called brushing) of stainless steel is a metal surface treatment process that forms a uniform and fine texture on the surface of stainless steel. It is usually used for decoration and to enhance the aesthetics. It also increases durability. It is commonly used in home appliances, decorative materials and elevator panels. ADV Machinery is a very professional metal polishing machine company. ADV MS series is a dual-purpose equipment for sanding belts and brushing wheels, designed to achieve more delicate textures

Choose abrasives:

Abrasive belts: Generally, 120 to 320 abrasive belts are used. The smaller the particle size, the finer the texture.

Abrasive brushes: Generally, non-woven wheels or nylon wheels are used. These abrasives can produce uniform textures on the surface of stainless steel.

Steps for grinding:

Fix stainless steel: The specifications of the MS series workbench are customized according to the maximum size of the workpiece. For small workpieces, we will manufacture specific fixtures or tooling to fix it to ensure that it does not move during processing

The first step is to process the welds and welds on the stainless steel, and grind each part separately by applying force on the long abrasive belt

The second step is that the operator moves back and forth on the abrasive belt through the pressure rod, and at the same time moves the workbench a little bit, and the product also moves longitudinally. During the grinding process, maintain uniform force and speed to ensure uniform surface texture.

The third step is to use only the non-woven wheel station for the above operation to achieve the brushed effect

After the treatment, check whether the stainless steel surface has a uniform texture.

If uneven areas are found, local brushing can be performed again until a satisfactory effect is achieved.
